PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear body tension detection device capable of being freely attached to and detached from a linear body such as a wire and a chain without cutting the object linear body and easily and highly accurately detecting the tension of the linear body. SOLUTION: The linear body tension detecting device 1 comprises mounting parts 3 and 3 provided for both end parts of a supporting body 2 for making the supporting body 2 freely attached to and detached from at a mid point of a linear body (wire W) while allowing the movement of the wire W, a bending part 4 provided at the center part between the mounting parts 3 and 3 and extended in the direction which intersects the wire W at right angles to bend the wire W in a V shape, and a detector (strain gauge 5) for detecting force provided by the wire W when the wire W bent in a V shape returns to a linear line.
