<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake pedal device of an automobile capable of avoiding the occurrence of a sense of incompatibility by preventing a collision load from acting on a pedal arm via a push rod of a master bag at head-on collision time of a vehicle. SOLUTION: At vehicle collision time, a pedal bracket 2 is contractedly deformed by a collision absorbing means, engagement of a pivot bracket 3 with a slide plate 9 is released to allow a rotational movement of the pivot bracket 3, the pivot bracket 3 is rotated with a shaft 4 as a fulcrum, the pedal arm 8 is drawn near to the vehicle front side, the unillustrated master bag retreats or a dash lower panel 30 is deformed to the cabin side, and even if the push rod 35 retreats, a stepping position of the pedal arm 8 is dislocated backward to avoid the occurrence of a sense of incompatibility. A rotational movement assisting pressing part 20 is arranged for promoting a downward- backward rotational movement of the pivot bracket 3 by abutting to a car body side bracket 32.</p> |
