PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the volume of a temperature compensating gas chamber sufficiently and ensure a sufficient stroke length of a piston rod without extension of an overall length and the adoption of a complex structure. SOLUTION: A cylinder 1 is peripherally mounted with an outer tube 13 for forming a temperature compensating gas chamber 24 with the cylinder 1. A temperature-responsive valve 15 closed when the temperature of gas is equal to or higher than a set temperature is disposed at a cylinder end on a compression-side gas chamber 3 to separate the compression-side gas chamber 3 and the temperature compensating gas chamber 24.
