PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make improvements as to the tensile strength, spring hardness, light weight, compactness, life, etc., of a coil spring of deformed cross section. SOLUTION: The coil spring has a deformed cross section and is made of high tension steel. The cross section is almost flat at its top and bottom and its inner portion is approximately in the form of an arc protruding outwards while its outer portion is almost flat or approximately flat at its top and bottom. Also, the inner and lower portions are each approximately in the form of an arc protruding outwards.
