PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight front filter glass substrate for display which has a fixed strength and does not lower a display quality level, and to provide a display device using this filter substrate for display. SOLUTION: The filter substrate for display consists of a glass substrate, and has one or more functions among an electromagnetic wave shielding function, a near infrared ray cutting function and an antireflection function. The substrate thickness is 1.8 to 3.2 mm, the average surface compressive stress of the glass substrate is 20 to 70 MPa, and the warpage of the glass substrate is 1.0% or less. The surface compressive stress is imparted by thermal tempering by air jets, chemical strengthening treatment or the like. The display device provided with this filter substrate for display is also provided.
