PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of not necessarily operating double deck elevators in conformity with the traffic flow of a building in a conventional elevator system. SOLUTION: In this elevator system having a plurality of double deck elevators, when stopping an upper car or a lower car of the first double deck elevator to which a certain landing call is assigned, at a floor where the landing call is generated, if a lower car of the second double deck elevator advancing in the same direction as the advancing direction of the first double deck elevator is stopped or determined to be stopped at a floor directly above the call generated floor, the upper car of the first double deck elevator is sopped at the call generated floor.
