PURPOSE: A 4-bit time slot switch is provided to decrease the number of pulse code modulation highway signal line and easily mount the pulse code modulation highway signal line on a board by processing transmission and receipt data according to a 4-bit time slot and using the same pulse code modulation highway signal line when transmitting and receiving data. CONSTITUTION: An address decoding and latch unit(10) receives data and address signals of a microcomputer, decodes the received address signals, and outputs control signals(S1-2). A transmission time slot exchanging unit(20) outputs transmission signal data(CSX1-4) through designated transmission and receipt paths(PHS1-4) during a time of 4 bit odd time slots(ODDTSA1-4). A receipt time slot exchanging unit(30) selects voice data of a subscriber provided through the transmission and receipt paths(PHS1-4) according to the control signals(S1-2) of the address decoding and latch unit(10), and outputs receipt signal data(CSR1-4) during a time of 4 bit even time slots(EVENTSA1-4). A 4-bit time slot generating unit(40) receives a frame pulse(FS), a clock signal(4MCLK), and 8 bit time slots(TSA1-4), and outputs the 4 bit odd time slots(ODDTSA1-4) and the 4 bit even time slots(EVENTSA1-4).
