<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device equipped with equipment for generating air pressure necessary for feeding paper in an image reader and dispenses with equipment such as air blower or a compressor. SOLUTION: In this paper feeding device, an air cylinder 6 is attached to act in response to the horizontal movement of an optical system, and generates the air pressure equal to or above ambient pressure or the air pressure equal to or under the ambient pressure every time reading operation is performed, and the air pressure is directly or indirectly applied to the paper just before feeding or in the midst of feeding, so that the separability and the feeding performance of paper are improved.</p> |
