PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing a metallocene compound on an industrial scale in high purity and high yield by solving problems that when a metallocene compound, which is scarcely soluble in an organic solvent, is synthesized, a large amount of organic solvent is used for extracting the complex, and the yield is lowered due to decomposition caused by washing with an alcohol. SOLUTION: A compound expressed by general formula [I] is synthesized in high purity by reacting a compound of general formula [II] with a compound of general formula [III] followed by halogenating the reaction product. In these formulae, M is a transition metal of the group 4; X is a halogen; R1 to R10 are each H, an alkyl group or an aryl group; and at least one pair of groups out of pairs of neighboring groups form an aromatic ring by bonding to each other.
