PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a staircase structure enabling a space to be effectively utilized without oppressing a living space. SOLUTION: In the structure of an L-shaped staircase 1, the lower part 11 of the staircase 1 and the upper part 13 thereof, which have the same number of steps, are extended above and below a landing 12, and the back space of the lower part 11, the landing 12 and the upper part 13 is taken as a storage part 2. An increased-step part 14 having more steps than the lower part 11 is installed in an extended manner in the upper part 13. The backside of the increased-step part 14 is formed with a lowered ceiling 3 whose height is set smaller than that of a normal ceiling 6. The lowered ceiling 3 is provided with a lighting device 31 for illuminating a section under the lowered ceiling 3.
