PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop containers 4 being carried at high speed in an attitude- stabilized state without giving impact to them. SOLUTION: The containers 4 are carried in a line on a carrying conveyor 6 as they are tightly in contact with each other, and they are cut by an in-feed screw 10 to be supplied to a filler 2. Movable stoppers 14 provided on both sides of the conveyor 6 can be moved in a carrying direction of the conveyor 6 by a servo motor 25, and they can be moved forward by a cylinder 30 to hold the containers 4 from both sides. The filler 2 is provided with an encoder 40 and an electronic cam switch 44, and pulse signals and pitch signals of these are inputted to a control means 38. In a moving curve memory part 46 of the control means 38, moving patterns of the stoppers 14 which move in accordance with the pulse signals are stored. As a container stopping signal is inputted to be followed by the next pitch signal P1 inputted, the stoppers 14 start moving to move in accordance with the moving pattern, and when their speed becomes roughly similar to that of the containers 4, the stoppers 14 are actuated to hold the containers 14. The speed is then reduced to stop them.
