PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the efficiency of transferring a toner image to a transfer member from a photoreceptor on which a toner image must be formed by preventing toner from being transferred to the transfer member from a photoreceptor on which a toner image need not be formed. SOLUTION: This electrophotographic device in which the toner image formed on the photoreceptor 5 (Y, M, C and K) is transferred to paper through a transfer member 11 is equipped with a position adjusting means 28 for adjusting the position of the photoreceptor 5 in a direction where the photoreceptor contacts with/separates from the member 11. Thus, the toner is prevented from being transferred to the member 11 from the photoreceptor 5 on which the toner image is not formed by separating the photoreceptor 5 on which the toner image need not be formed to a position where the toner on the photoreceptor 5 is not transferred to the member 11. Then, the photoreceptor 5 selected in order to form the toner image is maintained at a desirable position where the optimum transfer efficiency is obtained for the member 11, and the transfer efficiency is uniformized regardless of the difference of the color of the toner image.
