PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact camera for which battery space is saved. SOLUTION: Electrical contacts 78 and 76 are arranged so as to offset each other, that is, one contact 78 is placed near the front of a cavity 62 which is inclined from the front to the back, and the other contact 76 is placed near the back of the cavity 62, so that the battery can be supported in the cavity 62. Then, the length of the cavity 62 is reduced in the longitudinal direction, as compared with a case where the battery 80 is placed without inclination; a cartridge chamber 18 and a film roll chamber 22 can be made to approach each other; and then the dimension from one end part to the other end part can be reduced.
