PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a cutter allowing easy release of biting of the cutter to paper. SOLUTION: A printer leads the paper A between a platen roller 1 and a printing head 2, sends the paper by driving the platen roller 1, and performs printing on the paper A by the printing head 2. The printed paper A is cut to a suitable length by the cutter 5 when it is discharged from the printer. It is characterized by that if a movable blade 7 stops midway, the movable blade 7 is reversed to a home position (an initial position).
