PURPOSE: A method for preparing a sheet-shaped transparent highly absorbent resin is provided, wherein the resin is applied to fire proof or wind proof glass by swelling and inserting between glass plates. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of mixing acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or a mixture acrylic acid and methacrylic acid with distilled water in the ratio of 1:1 to 1:3; neutralizing the mixture to the degree of neutralization of 50-90 mol% to prepare an alkali metal salt; and adding a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator and a water-soluble cross-linking agent to the metal salt, and reacting the mixture at a temperature of 77-90 deg.C for 1.5-2.5 hours to polymerize it. Preferably water-soluble radical polymerization initiator is potassium persulfate, persulfuric acid or ammonium persulfate, and a water-soluble cross-linking agent is N,N-methylene bisacrylamide, ethylene glycol, triacrylate or propylene glycol.
