PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to confirm the operating state of equipment such as a VCR instantly even from a long distance and to make it possible that a user can customize confirmation display. SOLUTION: The back light system of a liquid crystal display panel 17 is provided with light sources 19R, 19G, 19B of three primary colors R, G, B and has a function for exhibiting multiple colors by controlling these light sources individually with an RGB control part 13A. The RGB control part 13A is further provided with a function for changing the emission color of a back light for every various operation mode provided in a mounted equipment by referring to color setting contents for every operation mode stored in a memory part 15. Moreover, this equipment is provided with mode color setting means (14, 15) for selecting the color of the back light freely for every operation mode on the basis of a user' operation from operating parts 20 or 21 to set the selected mode colors in the memory part 15.
