PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an epoxy resin composition without generating a harmful halogen compound in combustion having excellent flame retardance and excellent physical properties of a cured product. SOLUTION: This epoxy resin composition is obtained by compounding (a) a polyepoxy compound represented by general formula (I) (n is a number of 0.1-20; Z is a direct bond, a 1-4C alkylidene group or SO2; X is a hydrogen atom or a glycidyl group; X in an amount of >=10% is a glycidyl group) with at least one kind of a phosphorus compound selected from the group consisting of an aromatic phosphinic acid ester, an aromatic phosphonic acid ester and an aromatic phosphoric ester which contain at least one phenolic hydroxy group.
