PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bromine compound having low metal corrosivity, and hardly changing the color at the melt processing time at a high temperature, and further to provide a thermoplastic resin composition having the low metal corrosivity, capable of providing a molded product having good color, and having excellent flame retardance. SOLUTION: This bromine compound is characterized in that the SO42- ion concentration measured by an ion chromatography is <=100 ppm. The flame retardant resin composition comprising (A) 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic resin, (B) 1-50 pts.wt. bromine compound and (C) 0-25 pts.wt. inorganic flame retardant auxiliary is characterized in that the SO42- ion concentration measured by the ion chromatography is <=10 ppm.
