PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monomer that includes sulfur atoms in the molecule, and a polymer from the monomer, and to provide a lens for eye glass and a contact lens having both of high oxygen permeability and a high refractive index. SOLUTION: The objective monomer is characteristically represented by the following general formula (a) (wherein A1-A9 are individually independent from one another H or a group selected from 1-8C alkyl, 6-12C aralkyl and 6-10C aryl groups; a, b and c are individually independent from one another and show 0 or 1; k is an integer of 1-10; X is a group bearing a polymerizable carbon-carbon unsaturated bond).
