PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress pitch coagulation by adding white carbon to the pulp raw material and/or the papermaking raw material to allow the white carbon to adsorb the trouble-causing pitch components in order to prevent the pitch trouble in a pulping process and/or papermaking process. SOLUTION: The method for controlling pitch comprises adding white carbon as a pitch-adsorbing agent at a stage where pitch components exist, and the pH value is 4.5-8 in a pulping process and/or papermaking process.
