PURPOSE: An apparatus for inputting an alphabet in a keypad and a method therefor are provided to input the alphabet in a keypad having the number of keys which is same to the number of a keyboard of a telephone. CONSTITUTION: 9 basic consonants except for a consonant in which an aspirate and a fortis exist are grouped as 9 groups, and the grouped 9 basic consonants are allocated in 9 buttons of a 3*4 keypad. 2 vowel elements with the point shape are grouped as same group among 4 vowel elements, and 2 vowel elements with the line shape are grouped as 2 groups for being grouped as 3 groups. An aspirate control, a fortis control, and the basic consonant(omission consonant) which is not allocated in the 9 buttons are included the 3 groups, respectively. The 3 vowel elements are selected by one stroke, and the vowel element(long vowel) is selected by two strokes. The control or omission consonant is selected by two strokes.
