PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an addressing method for fluorescent display elements which is capable of saving electric power consumption by maintaining a visual shading ratio constant in spite of a change in ambient illuminance and a display element. SOLUTION: The electrical addressing method of the fluorescent display elements 4 and 8 is the method of electrically addressing the display elements for which high-polymer materials and/or low-molecular weight organic materials are used as an effect of fluorescence extinction by electric fields. This method includes a step of changing the positive polarity voltage impressed to bright pixels in inverse proportion to the ambient illuminance and a step of changing the negative polarity voltage impressed to the dark pixels in proportion to the ambient illuminance and allows an OLED mode and FQPED mode to be performed by the ambient illuminance of the display elements. As a result, the phenomenon that the shading ratio of the light 11 radiated from the OLED by an external light source 10 is weakened can be prevented. The electric power consumption may be saved by the use of the FQPED mode. |
