PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new oriented alternative copolymerized polyester fiber made of a crystalline alternative copolymerized polyester having a sufficiently high polymerization degree, keeping the primary structure and excellent in heat resistance and mechanical properties, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The alternative copolymerized polyester oriented fiber excellent in heat resistance and mechanical properties, and containing at least >=70% a polymer recurring unit expressed by the formula (1) (wherein, n is an integer selected from 2-4) is obtained by subjecting a crystalline alternative copolymerized polyester in which at least 90 mol% of the recurring unit of the polymer consists of a unit expressed by the formula (1), and the intrinsic viscosity [η] is >=0.4, to melt spinning, drawing and heat setting.
