摘要 PURPOSE: A method for stably operating a converter is provided in which slopping is not generated by setting an appropriate blowing amount of oxygen considering an inner volume changed depending on a life cycle of the furnace body during operation of the converter and a suitable elevation of slag foam accordingly. CONSTITUTION: The method for operating a converter(1) comprises the steps of obtaining an elevation of slag foam for an arbitrary flow rate of oxygen, and indexing each elevations depending on each flow rates based on a value in which an elevation of foam according to each flow rates is the lowest; indexing inner volumes of the converter according to each furnace ages when an inner volume of the converter for a furnace age corresponding to the value in which an elevation of foam is the lowest is considered as 1; examining a furnace age of the converter to be used, and determining a target oxygen flow for a foam elevation having the same index value as an index value of an inner volume of a converter corresponding to the furnace age; first obtaining an initial depth of a bath(Lh) when blowing oxygen in the state that a lance(2) is positioned at the surface of molten steel(3); obtaining a correlation of a periodical depth of the bath(Lo) to the total charging amount according to the number of used times of the furnace body of a specific converter; setting a theoretical depth of the bath(L) when blowing oxygen according to an arbitrary elevation(h) between the surface of molten steel and the lance through the obtained initial depth of the bath(Lh); obtaining an elevation of a specific lance from the surface of molten steel corresponding to the value after maintaining to a certain value a bath depth ratio(Lh/Lo) which is a ratio of the initial depth of the bath(Lh) to the periodical depth of the bath(Lo); and positioning the lance at the obtained specific lance elevation, and blowing a target oxygen flow from the lance to molten steel.
