PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle occupant protective device capable of setting a yield load and a rear half load lower than that according to the physique of an occupant and capable of sufficiently reducing chest acceleration and head part acceleration according to the occupant by arranging a yield load changing means for changing the yield load of occupant restraint by a seat belt according to the physique of the occupant and a rear half load setting means for holding the rear half load after yield in a prescribed load lower than the yield load. SOLUTION: This vehicular occupant protective device having an air bag 15 and the seat belt is characterized by having a physique detecting means 13 for inputting and setting or detecting the physique of the occupant, a collision detecting means 11 for detecting a collision of a vehicle, the yield load changing means 17 for changing the yield load of the occupant restraint by the seat belt according to the physique of the occupant on the basis of a signal from the physique detecting means 13 and the rear half load setting means 18 for holding the rear half load after the yield in the prescribed load lower than the yield load.
