FOUR-CYCLE ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact four-cycle engine with a low total height capable of preventing stored oil from flowing out of an oil tank even when the engine is laid inverted or sideways. SOLUTION: An oil tank 40 for storing oil O for lubrication and a timing transmission device 22a of a valve train 22 provided in the oil tank 40 are located on one side of an engine body 1. A guide tube 86 containing the timing transmission device 22a is provided integrally with the oil tank 40. The opening end of the guide tube 86 directed into the oil tank 40 is protruded toward the center side of the oil tank 40 so that the opening end is exposed above the level of the stored oil O whether the engine is laid inverted or sideways.
