PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which is small-sized, has high performance, and is equipped with an ocular optical system capable of securing long actuation distance. SOLUTION: The ocular optical system 3 is provided with a 1st optical element 10, which has at least one reflecting surface and deflect the optical path sideward about the view axis 2 of an observer, a 2nd optical element 20 which has at least one reflecting surface and deflects the optical path deflected sideward by the 1st optical element away from the observer, and a 3rd optical element 30 which has at least one reflecting surface and deflects the optical path deflected by the 2nd optical element, almost in direction substantially opposite to the direction of the deflection by the 1st optical element in reverse tracking order; and the 2nd and 3rd optical elements constitute a relay optical system for an image displayed by an image display element 5, and the 1st and 3rd optical elements have positive power. |
