PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic device in which the sensitivity of the electrophotographic photoreceptor can be matched to the required sensitivity of the electrophotographic process so as to obtain images of sharp image quality without image defects such as ghost. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic device is equipped with an electrophotographic photoreceptor 1, an electrifying means 2 to electrify the photoreceptor 1, an exposing means 4 to expose the electrified photoreceptor 1 according to an image to form an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photoreceptor 1, a developing means 5 to develop the electrostatic latent image to obtain a toner image, and a transfer means 6 to transfer the toner image to a recording material. In this device, the electrifying means 2 has such a structure that an electrifying member is brought into contact with the photoreceptor 1 to electrify. The photoreceptor has a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer laminated on a conductive supporting body, and the charge generating layer contains II-type chlorogallium phthalocyanine crystal showing the absorption maximum in 774 to 780 nm region in the spectrum of spectral absorption.
