PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for treating organic waste, which is structured to form a large discharge port on one side of a drum main body, capable of efficiently discharging a treated material without stopping the rotation of a drum and enables easy supply work for a treating material, easy inspection work for the inside of a treating chamber or the like by connecting a sidewall to the drum main body in a resting state. SOLUTION: In the treating device in which the drum 3a formed by closing both ends of the hollow cylindrical drum main body 3b with sidewalls 3c and 3d respectively is supported horizontally and rotatably on a machine base 33, and which houses the treating material composed of the organic waste containing water in the drum 3a and stirs the material, the drum 3a is switched to a closing attitude to stir the treating material and to an opening attitude to discharge the treating material by moving the sidewall 3c far and near from/to the peripheral end of one side of the drum main body 3b. The sidewall 3c of at least one side of the sidewalls 3c and 3d is connected to the drum main body 3b in the resting state without disturbing the rotation of the drum main body 3b and a supply port 32 for the treating material or an inspection hole 38 for the inside of the treating chamber can be formed on the sidewall 3c.
