PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron beam irradiator for treating powdery granules designed to reduce the running cost involved in the used of an inert gas (e.g. nitrogen gas, rare gas). SOLUTION: This electron beam irradiator has such a scheme and mechanism that there are provided an entrance side hopper and an exit side hopper each functioning to put to-be-treated powdery granules to temporary residence, an inert gas is discharged via a pathway just behind the entrance side hopper, an another batch of the inert gas is blown via the entrance side hopper and a site just behind the irradiative section into the irradiator, and the inert gas discharged is regenerated and blown into the irradiator again, thus putting the inert gas to recycling use. |
