PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for manufacturing a UOE steel pipe for improving manufacturing efficiency by increasing the descending speed of the upper die and by eliminating the 'rubbing' to prolong the life of the upper die. SOLUTION: This forming device for welded steel pipes is provided with; an upper die 10 having a pair of movable dies which are expanded and contracted in the width direction of a formed body; and a lower die device 20 which has a pair of sliding blocks 21 on which working bodies 24 are provided and which are separable and approachable in the width direction of the formed body 1. The upper die 10 consists of a plurality of working cylinders 14 which are attached to both side faces of the main body 12 of the die and a pair of the long movable dies 13 which have approximately semicircular cross section. The movable die is attached to the rod of the working cylinder.
