PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printed board machining tool capable of preventing machining failure due to inappropriate placing of to improve machining efficiency. SOLUTION: A bar-like stylus 44 having an outside diameter under the diameter of a detecting hole 50 previously formed in the work W is fixed to the lower end side of a piston rod 41 of an air cylinder 41, and a dog 43 is fixed to the upper end side. A proximity sensor 42 is disposed in a position facing the dog 43 when the piston rod 41p is located in the lower moving end. Prior to machining, the piston rod 41p is located at the lower moving end, the tip of the stylus 44 is at a height H from the surface of a table 3, and the axis of the stylus 44 is located in the center position of the hole 50 on a program. The air cylinder 41 is lowered by a distance h (when the board thickness of the work is taken as t, 0<=H-h<t). In the case where the proximity sensor 42 is on at the end of lowering the air cylinder 41, the placing direction of the work W is correct, so machining for the work W is continued. In the other cases, machining is discontinued.
