PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aligning method of a steel plate by which the steel plate is easily alligned even when it is a particularly short steel plate in aligning the steel plate and a conveying method of the steel plate in an aligning stage. SOLUTION: In this aligning method of the steel plate, two aligning devices having a function for cramping the side parts of the steel plate from the horizontal sides of a steel plate conveying table, a function for moving the plate back and forth and a function for ascending and descending the plate are arranged at an interval shorter than the minimum length of the steel plate to be handled over the conveyance direction of the steel plate at the aligning stage of the steel plate, then the steel plate is lifted from table rollers by raising an idle beam which is provided in the conveying table and the aligning of the steel plate is carried out with the aligning device. In this conveying method of the steel plate, support rolls are installed in the upper part of conveying table rollers corresponding to the conveying table rollers in the aligning stage of the steel plate and the steel plate is conveyed by pressing the steel plate on table rollers from the upper part with the support rolls.
