PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean an arbitrarily selected cleaning area to be cleaned out of a plurality of cleaning areas without a complex input operation for a travel route. SOLUTION: This robot cleaner system comprises an autonomous-travel robot cleaner 8 and a home server 6 for controlling the robot cleaner. The home server 6 has a selecting means for selecting an arbitrary cleaning area from a plurality of cleaning areas and selecting a cleaning mode for the selected cleaning area. The robot cleaner 8 has sensors for autonomous travel such as an obstruction sensor, a rotary encoder and a visual sensor used for specifying a current position, a storing part for storing map information on each cleaning area, and a position specifying means for specifying a current position from the output of the autonomous-travel sensors and the map information stored in the storing part. The robot cleaner autonomously travels to the selected cleaning area in accordance with the current position specified by the position specifying means, and cleans the cleaning area while autonomously traveling in accordance with the cleaning mode for the cleaning area. |
