PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenating desulfurization catalyst having high catalytic activity and capable of decreasing the sulfur content sufficiently even in hydrocarbon oil containing a large quantity of hardly desulfurizing components and suitable for deep desulfurization. SOLUTION: The hydrogenating desulfurization catalyst for hydrocarbon oil is obtained by impregnating an inorganic oxide carrier (C) with a compound (A) having molybdenum atom having 5-valent oxidation number and at least one kind of a metallic compound (B) selected from a group composed of a nickel compound, a cobalt compound or an iron compound and sintering. The method of hydrogenating desulfurizing the hydrocarbon oil is performed by using the catalyst. The inorganic oxide carrier preferably contains zeolite, the compound having the molybdenum atom having 5-valent oxidation mumber is preferably oxymolybdenum thiocarbamate sulfide or oxymolybdenum dithiocarbamate sulfide. |
