PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide thermal recording material which is high in coloring density and low in fog and has good preservation properties of an image part. SOLUTION: In the thermal recording material in which a thermal coloring layer containing a colorless electron donating dye and an electron accepting compound is formed on a support, the coloring layer contains at least 4,4'- dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone as the electron accepting compound and a sensitizer comprising 2-benzyloxynaphthalene and an aliphatic monoamide in a mass ratio (2-benzyoxynaphthalene/aliphatic monoamide) of 30/70-70/30.
