<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide equipment for measuring sectional dimension of a tubular extruded article which enables uniform measurement of the sectional dimensions not manually and can be used also in an in-line fashion. SOLUTION: In the present equipment 40 and method for measuring the sectional dimensions of the tubular molded article 32, a tubular extruded body 31 is extruded from an extruder 21 in an extrusion line 20 and subjected successively to cooling sizing, taking-off and cutting, and the dimensions of the section of the tubular molded article 32 thus formed are measured. At the terminal part of the extrusion line 20, a proximity sensor 42 is provided so that the position of movement thereof can be monitored by a displacement sensor 43, and the sensor 42 is so designed as to be movable automatically for scanning in such a manner that it traverses horizontally the section of the article 32 at an arbitrary vertical height position. Besides, the equipment is so designed that the outside and inside diameters and the maximum, minimum and average wall thicknesses 33 of the tubular extruded article 32 can be calculated through the intermediary of the proximity sensor 42.</p> |
