PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which uniform gray level of image is realized in the radial direction of a circular print medium without sacrifice of gray scale performance. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a thermal head imparting thermal energy to a print medium or an ink ribbon, means for rotary driving the thermal head and the print medium relatively, and a conduction control means for printing an image onto the print medium by controlling thermal energy being applied to individual heating elements constituting the thermal head. The conduction control means performs preliminary conduction for imparting energy at a temperature lower than a specified level to the thermal head and main conduction for imparting energy at the specified temperature to the thermal head. The preliminary conduction is controlled such that higher energy is applied to the heating elements located on the outer circumferential side than the heating elements located on the central side of rotation of the print medium and/or the thermal head. |
