PURPOSE: A power train of an automatic transmission is provided to reduce the size of an automatic transmission and to minimize the loss of power by combining a double pinion planetary gear set with a single pinion planetary gear set. CONSTITUTION: A ring gear of a double pinion planetary gear set is connected with a transmission housing(23) via a third brake unit(B3) and a planetary carrier(11) of a single pinion planetary gear set via a first clutch unit(C1). A planetary carrier(15) of the double pinion planetary gear set is directly connected with an input shaft(1), and is variably connected with the planetary carrier of the single pinion planetary gear set via a second clutch unit(C2). A sun gear(17) of the double pinion gear set is statically connected with a sun gear(19) of the single pinion gear set, and is variably connected with the input shaft via a third clutch unit(C3). The planetary carrier and sun gear of the single pinion gear set are variably connected to the transmission housing via first and second brake units(B1,B2). A ring gear(25) of the single pinion gear set is operated as an output element.
