The door (11) is mounted on to the body of the vehicle (10) and consists of two flaps (12a, 12b), linked to each other, along a pivot line, by means of hinges (13). Each of the door panels is fitted with a locking mechanism, close to the outer edge and adjacent to the side walls of the vehicle. The locking mechanisms are located such that when either is operated to lock the relevant panel to the vehicle, the lock operates as a hinge and allows both flaps to slide to one side of the vehicle.
