PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scaner device with a light source heater, which reads a white reference when power is turned on, compares the read waveform of the white reference with the normal waveform of the white reference, and, when the drop amount of the light quantity is larger than prescribed, sets a light source heater to a heating state by discriminating the clouding occurs in an optical system, and to provide a method by which the clouding in the optical system can be removed by moving a carrier forward and backward a prescribed number of times. SOLUTION: The scanner device with light source heater is provided with the white reference (3), a reading section (2) which reads originals and the white reference (3), and a white reference waveform storing section (4) which stores the read normal waveform of the white reference (3). The device is also provided with a discriminating section (5) which reads the white reference (3) by means of the read section (2) before reading an original, compares the read waveform with the waveform stored in the storing section (4), and discriminates that clouding is in the optical system when the drop range of the light quantity of the read waveform exceeds a prescribed pixel and a clouding removing section(6) which removes the clouding by turning on the light source heater and moving the carrier forward and backward by a prescribed number of times when the discriminating section (5) discriminates the clouding.
