PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-bearing material which allows efficient and safe execution of laminating work, and to obtain an underground water reservoir using the water-bearing material. SOLUTION: The water-bearing material for use in the underground water reservoir is comprised of a nearly flat plate portion 2, and an outward inclined frame body 3 connected to the periphery of the plate portion 2. The plate portion 2 has a plurality of radially arranged grooves 4 formed therein, and the depth of each groove 4 is the same as the height of the frame body 3.
