METHOD FOR REMOVING FOREIGN MATTER IN COLOR FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a foreign matter in a color filter such that the foreign matter can be removed without problems even when the filter is irradiated with laser light at specified intensity regardless of the material or the like in the part where the foreign matter intrudes and that unnecessary holes due to the removal of the foreign matter can not be formed even when the irradiation position is misaligned. SOLUTION: The method to remove a foreign matter 3 in a color filter having a color filter layer containing at least a color layer 2 on a transparent substrate 1 includes at least a process of detecting the foreign matter 3 present in the color filter layer or on the layer, a process of forming a laser absorbing part 4 from a material having better absorptivity for laser light than that of the color filter on the surface of the color filter layer in the position where the detected foreign matter is present, and a process of irradiating the laser absorbing part with laser light to remove the foreign matter together with the material constituting the color filter layer near the foreign matter.
