PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect failures in a voltage measurement resistance Rm itself for measuring a high-voltage Vo generated in an electron beam irradiator, which has a direct-current high-voltage power source that obtains direct-current high voltage by boosting the voltage of an alternating-current input with a transformer to rectify it. SOLUTION: Abnormality of the voltage measurement resistance is detected by measuring an alternating-current input voltage Vi and comparing it with an output voltage Vo of a direct-current power source, so as to detect the deviation of a proportionality factor from a prescribed value.
