PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling number of thermal instruments by which the burning number of thermal instruments each of which is provided with a burner having a pilot combustion waiting stage can be set easily and appropriately in accordance with required load fluctuation. SOLUTION: A plurality of the thermal instruments 1 each of which is provided with the burner 7 for which a stopping stage, a burning stage, and the pilot combustion waiting stage can be controlled selectively is installed and the burning number of the thermal instruments 1 is controlled in accordance with the required load fluctuation.
