PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unify the types of picture features amounts, to calculate the similarity of the picture feature amounts and to specify the similar picture of an inquired picture from the picture being the object of retrieval from calculated similarity. SOLUTION: The picture retrieval device is provided with an orthogonal conversion coefficient storage part 13 of a picture being the object of retrieval, which stores the orthogonal conversion coefficient of the picture being the object of retrieval, a picture feature amount conversion means 2 converting an orthogonal conversion coefficient 21 which is read from the orthogonal conversion coefficient storage part 13 of the picture being the object of retrieval into color histogram information, and a color histogram similarity calculating means 4 calculating the similarity 42 of color histogram information 41 of the inquired picture and color histogram information 25 generated by the picture feature amount conversion means 2. |
