PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-containing solid matter drying device increased remarkably in a heat transfer area and excellent in compatibility to the physical property of the matter to be dried. SOLUTION: The water-containing solid matter drying device is provided with a cylindrical vessel 2 equipped with a jacket 1, a rotary shaft 3 provided along the central axis of the vessel 2, a mixing and shifting means 4 provided on the shaft 3 and a matter to be dried charging port 10 as well as a drying matter discharging port 11, which are provided in the vessel 2 to shift the matter to be dried, which is charged through the charging port, while mixing and drying the same in a drying area 9 formed around the rotary shaft 3 and discharge the same through the discharging port 11. In such a drying device, the rotary shaft 3 is formed of a double tube structure to utilize the outside tube as a jacket 5 and the inside tube of the same as a second drying area 6 while one end of the second drying area 6 is communicated with one end of the first drying area 9 and a second rotary shaft 7, equipped with a second mixing and shifting means 8 for shifting the matter to be dried into the opposite direction of the mixing and shifting means 4 along the central axis of the second drying area, is provided.
