Leaves of Malva sylvestris are solubilized by heating in 5-25 volume % of water at 30-80 deg C for 20 minutes to 4 hours. Soluble and insoluble phases are separated by decantation and/or centrifugation. The active principle is selected by filtration, concentrated and subjected to sterilizing filtration. The active principle has 10-50 g/l dry matter, pH 5.0-7.0, total sugars 5-20 g/l and galacturonic acids 0.5-5 g/l. Independent claims are included for compositions comprising associations of 0.1-10 wt.% of the principle with any galenic form, which are intended to: (a) stimulate the synthesis of proteoglycannes to fight aging of the skin; (b) to stimulate natural mitogenic growth; (c) to stimulate the synthesis of structure proteins; (d) to stimulate cellular metabolic activity; (e) to reinforce the barrier effect of the skin, with the aim of fighting aging of the skin. |
