PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for production of the titled monofilament by passing a collected monofilament through a tooth-forming roller to form an uneven part and then winding the tooth-formed monofilament are provided. By this method, a monofilament improved in flexibility and convenience in handling is produced. CONSTITUTION: A monofilament yarn(10) comprising one or several filaments is collected at one point through a cylindrical guide(30), the collected monofilament is passed through a tooth-forming roller(40) to form an uneven part repeatedly in the width direction of the monofilament and the tooth-formed monofilament(20) is wound in each specified length on a take-up roller(50) constructed on the opposition side of the guide at the center of the tooth-forming roller.
