Aluminum free cutting alloys AICuMg comprising: a) constitutional elements: 0.5 to 1.0 wt.% Mn, 0.4 to 1.8 wt. % Mg, 3.3 to 4.6 wt. % Cu, 0.4 to 1.9 wt. % Sn, 0.05 to 0.4 wt.% (Pb + Bi), 0.0 to 0.1 wt.% Cr, 0.0 to 0.2 wt. % Ti b) impurities: not more than 0.5 wt. % Si not more than 0.7 wt. % Fe, not more than 0.05 wt.% Zn, the remainder being, individually, 0.05 wt.%, the remainder being, combined, 0.15 wt. % impurities c) the balance to 100 % AI. The alloys are produced according to an energy-optimized technology, by means of recycling standard lead-containing alloys, which minimizes the environmental hazard. In the recycled material the lead content is gradually decreasing, and the tin content is simultaneously increasing. With respect to the microstructure, workability, mechanical characteristics, corrosion resistance and machinability, the recovered alloys are equivalent to standard alloys. |
